Daily Bible Nugget #47, Philippians 4:13

The Nugget:

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

My Comment:

The life of Paul, considered alone, is sufficient to fully prove the validity and truth of Christianity. Paul surely knew what it meant to trust in Christ. He knew he could do all things through Christ. Paul wrote 13 books of the New Testament, 14 if you count Hebrews. Paul's conversion was a most remarkable event in the history of Christianity. Yet I have read and heard some Christians demeaning Paul. Some are of the "Hebrew Roots Movement." Now, it is fine to study the Hebrew roots of Christianity and the Bible. But some in the Hebrew Roots Movement are a name cult, a false cult. Stay away from them. At a Bible study they tried to prove to me that Paul or Saul was a heretical rabbi. Paul, they said, was a liar, because he could not keep his own conversion story straight. As to this last claim, I said differences in what was said of his conversion story hardly constitute contradictions or falsehood. He just told some things in one instance of telling of his conversion, and mentioned other details at another time. My wife pretty well stopped them in their tracks when she read to them Acts 9:15, "But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. [16] For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake." Very clearly, God himself (or the Lord Jesus Christ) chose Paul and appointed him to the ministry. Remember, when Paul wrote the book of Philippians, he was in jail!
