(EB, Emphasized Bible by Rotherham) Pro 29:2 When the upright have power, the people are glad; when an evil man is ruler, grief comes on the people. (BBE, Bible in Basic English) Pro 29:2  When righteous people increase, the people of God rejoice, but when a wicked person rules, everybody groans. (GW, God's Word transation) Pro 29:2 When justice rules a nation, everyone is glad; when injustice rules, everyone groans. My Comment: The events of recent days surely illustrate the truth and wisdom of Proverbs 29:2. There seems to be a shortage of righteous people. Notice the cause/effect relationships presented in this verse: (a) cause: when righteous people increase; (b) effect: the people of God rejoice. (c) cause: when an evil man is ruler, (d) grief comes on the people. What is the solution? There needs to be a vast increase in the number of righteous people. I think that one way to reach that goal is to win souls (Proverbs 11:30). We need to get more people reading, studying, and sharing the Bible with others. I need to add Proverbs 29:2 to the list, I see. I had not noticed this cause/effect relationship verse in my studies before. This shows that anyone can learn something new every time they open their Bible and study it carefully.
